Health for the Battle

In my not so distant past, there was a day that I gazed longingly at a locally grown, non-organic, fresh peach on my kitchen counter. It smelled so good and looked so enticing! I really wanted to eat it, but knew that one bite would leave me with an itchy tongue and a scratchy throat due to the pesticides on it. Even washing it and then peeling off the skin wouldn’t keep my reactions at bay. “Lord, I really would enjoy that peach!” I said aloud. He immediately responded, “Ask Me to release the pesticide toxicity.” What?!?

You may remember from a previous blog that, at best, I tolerated science in school. The smells irritated me, dissections totally grossed me out, and playing with chemicals frightened me. So, imagine my surprise and the Lord’s amusement when He instructed me in my 50’s to take various courses that were all about the human body and how intertwined are our spiritual beliefs, our emotions, our thoughts, and our physical well-being. It was during my immersion in His revelations about such things when He told me to ask Him to release the pesticide toxicity from that tempting peach. So, I did and, guess what? After thanking Him for making the peach safe for me to eat, I did just that – I thoroughly enjoyed that juicy peach without a single moment of itchiness or scratchiness. Now, I regularly ask Him with thanksgiving to release all sorts of toxins, pathogens, negative emotions and thoughts, etc and He is faithful to do so. He desires for His children to walk in health – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Acts 17:28a (NLT) “For in him we live and move and exist.”

Colossians 2:7 (NLT) “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

During this recent challenge of coronavirus or Covid-19, I daily thank the Lord that He is the air that I breathe and that I have on my teflon Jesus-skin that quenches every fiery dart from the devil – even if it takes on the form of a nasty virus. I thank Him for doing this for all in my household (and those marrying into it) and for our extended families. Then, I walk confidently through my day with Him.

Warrior, ask the Lord to keep you healthy, partner with Him by treating your body as His Temple where the Holy Spirit abides, and trust Him with the results. You may be familiar with Proverbs 3:5-6, but pay attention to verses 7 and 8 also.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Proverbs 3:7-8 (NLT) “Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil Then, you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.”

The Passion Translation states these verses as:

Proverbs 3:5-8 (TPT) “Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.”
